Letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents, dated 7th June 1945
Photocopy of a letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents dated 7th June 1945. Hubert thanks his parents for their kindness to his daughter on her birthday, but thinks its a shame his cable and parcels have not reached home in time. He reports that he and a friend have been shopping and he bought a doll for his daughter and 4 yards of material which he hopes his wife can use to make something for herself and their daughter for the winter. He is glad Sid Glave’s wife had her baby and notes it is nice to know someone can be near home for such an occasion. He notes his younger daughter is a “proper little madam” but that the doctor has said what a lovely baby she is. He notes the Delapre Park people have lived up to their reputation as they “always were a rum crowd”. He notes that Churchill has begun his election campaign and that he wishes to see Anthony den as Prime Minister if the Conservatives are elected. He asks who the local Labour candidate is. He wishes his family well.
