Letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents 12th June 1945
Photocopy of a letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents dated 12th June 1945. Hubert is pleased that his letters home are getting through well although he has not yet received the last one from home. He is sorry to hear the weather at home is not good but reports the rains in India are so heavy that it came through the roof of the wireless cabin. He is pleased that his daughter is feeling much better and that “it wasn’t necessary for the boil to be lanced”. Hubert writes that his wife has said Bernice is pleased with the doll he sent from India and that his daughter is thrilled with her motor bus. Hubert writes that has given up bothering about leave as he and Ray were invited on leave to Bangalore by one of the sergeants but the Signals officer would not let them go. He has read that he is looking forward to the demob process which is is expected to begin in September. He is glad the delphiniums he gave his parents are doing welland they took his daughter the tomato they had been growing. Hubert is disappointed in the film “For Whom The Bell Tolls” because he does not care for Cary Grant. Hubert is waiting to see the policies of the parties in the election before deciding who to vote for. He tells his parents he had a stiff arm after the vaccination but everything is OK now. He wishes his family well.
