Letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents, and Beryl and Frank, 26 November 1944
Photocopy of a letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents and Beryl and Frank dated 26 November 1944. Hubert begins by suggesting that he starts to number his letters again so his family can keep track of them, particularly as they seem to arrive in batches although generally they take 17 days to reach home. He says how good it is to hear what his family has been doing and thanks them for the things they do for his wife and children. Hubert says that he has been put on fatigues to await posting which “is a change from erecting barbed wire”. He talks about the arrivals and departures of some colleagues. He mentions positive news about the progress of the war in Europe and expresses the hope that this continues to get the war over by Christmas. He says he will go to the cinema that night and signs off because he off to get some tiffin – “dinner to you”.
