Letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents, 13 March 1945
Photocopy of a letter from Hubert Taylor to his parents dated 13 March 1945. Hubert thanks his parents for their last letter and is pleased to learn that a new employee is doing well in the shop. He is also glad to hear that his father is entering county games and competitions and expects big things from him. He mentions a letter in the Wolverton Express commenting on the ugliness of Wolverton. He reports on a recent draw which decided which three men could take a months leave and fly home. In response to an enquiry from his father he confirms the weather in India remains hot but hopes he will get used to it. He is clearly pleased about the health of his younger daughter who has put on weight and “is an elephant”. He is also pleased with a drawing of snowdrops his elder daughter sent him. He hopes he will be home soon as a speech from Hitler as good as admitted they had lost the war. He reports on a night out at the cinema. Hubert reports on a letter he had received from Gran and hopes Uncle Jack will take things quietly as he is ill. He signs off hoping that his parents will take the proposed holiday in Blackpool.
