Photographic postcard "God Save Our King and Queen"
Coloured photographic postcard showing King George V and Queen Mary in two ovals. The ovals are linked by a small banner reading “MARRIED JULY 6th 1893 CROWNED JUNE 22nd 1911”. The ovals are surmounted by St Edwards Crown and the towers of Westminster Abbey in shadow. Above these are written CANADA INDIA BRITANNIA AUSTRALASIA S.AFRICA. Below the portraits in a scroll is written “One with Britain, heart and soul! One life, one flag, one fleet, one throne! Tennyson”. The reverse shows it is part of the “Coronation” series of postcards produced by Raphael Tuck and Sons, Art Publishers to their Majesties the King and Queen. There are biographical details of the King and Queen on the reverse. The card is addressed to Master A Pittam Castlethorpe Stony Stratford Bucks. The message reads “Dear [Ted?] Just a line to let you know we are getting on allright I meant to write last night but forgot as we went out have you heard anything of the basket I sent [?] [?] [?].
