Illustrated postcard "The Empty Plate"
Illustrated coloured postcard with a panel within an embossed oval. Panel shows two badly drawn pug dogs sitting in front of what appears to be the edge of a blue plate. The wall behind them is grey and the floor is red and brown. On the left is a round green vase with golden feet and gilded decorative panels – the front panel shows a couple in a classical pose. The vase contains cream , pink and red roses. Two pink petals have fallen to the floor. The legend “The Empty Plate” is written at the top left of the card. Written underneath the oval is “Two little pug dogs Most unfortunate, Want a substantial meal But find an empty plate”. The card is addressed to Master R Pittam Castlethorpe Stony Stratford and the message reads “13/9/09 Dear Ronnie Hope you will like this picture from Auntie Min xxxxxx”. The card is franked CULWORTH SP 13 09″
