July 10 Tue. ‘It is only too true. H. has to go to Crewe. I am so sorry no more happy Sat. evenings for a while’.
July 28 Fri. ‘Heard a lot of our Bucks Batt. are cut up. I wonder where poor old Bobby is’.
Sept 3 Sun. ‘The old Zeps have been busy again, but thank goodness England has brought one down just out of London in flames for the first time on English soil’.
Sept 9 Sat. ‘Soldiers and Sailors Fete, the girls started off early in the morning with an organ dressed as Italians’.
Nov 22 Wed. ‘Heard the news that poor old Bobby is wounded. Mother awfully upset’.
Dec 5 Wed. ‘Our Concert at Last. I feel nearly bursting with excitement. The hall simply packed. Everything went off extra. Folks roared at our Masks and I enjoyed it’.
