Interview with Paul Flello
In 1981 Paul was Chief Engineer within a national housebuilding company. He was working in the Midlands and came to visit HomeWorld. He was transferred to MK and took his wife to see the Money Programme House. At the time of viewing, the house had had a burst pipe and some ceilings were down and carpets ruined. But the developers made good and Paul and his wife decided to buy the house.
Indeed, because of his connections to the Money Programme, Paul and his wife were filmed moving in, and then filmed regularly for the next couple of years. The energy aspects were only one factor in them deciding this was the right house for them and their growing family. The energy features were monitored constantly and Paul enjoyed being part of that process. The family stayed in the house for 14 years but moved to a house Paul designed and built himself. He felt the technology in the HomeWorld house had started to become dated.
Paul feels that climate change has made people more informed when buying houses and developers are becoming more proactive and are exceeding the building regulations.
