Interview Terry Knight
Terry had previously bought a house on Energy World; an energy efficient house. Terry has now lived in Homeworld since June 2020. He decided to buy a house in Homeworld because he knows a lady who lives locally, he wanted to live close to the city centre and the house is in the sunshine. Since he moved in, he has insulated all the ceilings with either solid insulation or fibre glass, to improve the insulation. He has also had the existing 8ml double-glazed windows changed to 48ml windows and had the boiler replaced to a solar tank ready for a thermal tank to be fitted later in the year.
Before he moved to Homeworld he lived in North Carolina, and he believes that helped him know what he needed to do to the house to bring it up to modern standards. In America, he and his wife were used to living a wooden-frame house, and he still has a house in California he goes back to.
Terry recalls always being into energy efficiency and for the last twenty years he worked in the UK for Living Well Health and Leisure, and then for Virgin Active; where he has been used to conserving energy and says he knows a great deal about it. He thinks that the standards for energy conservation in modern day housing are not high enough.
