Interview with Dianne Sutton and Dave Humphreys
Diane and David moved into their home on HomeWorld in September 2012. Daves work at the time was as an architectural technician for energy saving houses so this house was ideal for them. Dave was interested to understand how the materials used in the energy saving factors have aged and what benefits they would still provide. They think the house was very well built 40 years ago with some triple-glazing and high quality finishes. Dave visited HomeWorld as a member of the public in 1981 after a visit to the Ideal Home Exhibition where HomeWorld was being promoted. Diane had never visited the site.
The couple have added solar panels but the quality of the original work means little maintenance has been needed or done. They think HomeWorld still attracts visitors from around the World. Diane and Dave feel that the residents are very proud to live on this development and think the 40th Anniversary should be commorated as HomeWorld is a very important part of the history of Milton Keynes. They would like to see more innovative houses being built generally.
