Photograph of letter on YMCA notepaper from Albert French
Slide of an extarct from an early letter from Albert French to his sister May on YMCA notepaper. Albert writes to May telling her to cheer up as he is coming home on Saturday. He tells her that if anyone wants to write to him they should use the following details: ‘Rifleman A.E.M French, K.R.R, Regimental No. 7259, E Company, Gidea Park, Romford, Essex.’ He also states that if May or Aunt want any more details they should read the letter that he wrote to their father. When he returns they can take him out and show him off in his new uniform, but he won’t have any money as he only has enough for his fare to Wolverton and back. He tells her that he will get to Euston at half past two on Saturday, take the first train, and hopes to get home before half past five. He would like some tea left for him if he is late as he does not have enough money to buy refreshments on the journey.
