Excerpt from the war diary of P. Jackson
A recreation of an extract from the war diary of P Jackson of the 6th Battalion of the ‘Northamptons’ describing the reaction of one young man who was challenged about his age when trying to enlist. It shows the predominance of the feeling among young people to ‘get up and do their bit for God and country’ and that because of the socialised pressure there was shame and dishonour for those who did not.
