Peta Wilkinson's Interview Summary
Peta was born in 1953 and was appointed Chief Executive of the Hospice on September 4th 2017. A motivation for applying for the post was her memory of walking away alone from the hospital where her husband was dying and not wanting that to happen to others. She spoke about the challenges raised by COVID, the importance of fundraising both for finance and connecting to the community, and how she saw the Hospice changing to meet future demands. She described the importance and reach of Willen-At-Home.
She talked about staff putting themselves out to make things happen for patients and recalled how they had helped a young mother throw a birthday party. She said she enjoyed the Santa Dash and was moved by Lights of Love, but rated the Midnight Moo as her favourite fundraising event. She finished by emphasising the importance of the community to the Hospice.
