Marilyn David's Interview Summary
Marilyn was born in 1953 and joined Willen in 2000 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist mainly seeing patients in their own homes. Before joining Willen she was an Oncology nurse in an NHS hospital. Marilyn has seen many changes in palliative care over the years and so nursing has had to change with the times. She feels that she has had to develop skills over the course of her time at Willen and thinks the key focus is good communication with the patient and family. Because Willen is still quite small, Marilyn has always got involved in the fund raising and has enjoyed many of the events. She believes Willen is a happy place to work in. Marilyn’s current role is Assistant Director for Quality, Governance and Performance which is a job she loves. She ensures the delivery of good care. Marilyn also ensures that there is support for the families. She looks at Willen as a family all supporting each other. Willen has provided Marilyn with various opportunities in her nursing career and she is very proud to have been working at Willen for so long.
