Woughton Medieval Village
Woughton Medieval Village
“From the Anglo Saxon Village and Parish Name ‘Wuhla’s Tun'”.
“The development of the new city has enabled Milton Keynes to become the most intensively studied archaeological landscape in this county. In the last twenty years the story of the people who have lived and died here during the past 10,000 years has gradually unfolded. This series of leaflets describes some of the many sites that have been discovered and which have now been integrated into developments or incorporated into the parks. This one, about the history of Woughton-on-the-Green, complements medieval earthworks and a set of three information panels on a trail around the site itself.”
There are two maps which show how to find Woughton Medieval Village Earthworks.
Information is given about the buildings which once stood in the village, the agricultural work which would have been done in the village, and the population which would have inhabited it.
There are drawings of what the village would have looked like and how people tended to the land.
