3 Rides in Milton Keynes
“There are many possibilities for cycling routes in the Borough of Milton Keynes. With this leaflet we are encouraging families and new riders to visit interesting places along three routes which meet in Newport Pagnell. You can choose an easy afternoon ride or a whole day out with a picnic or pub stop. A glance at the map will show experienced riders other possible circuits.”
The Village Ride “…is 24 miles through local countryside and a good day out on the bike for a slow and steady rider.” There is a map showing the route and facilities, and the Linford Lakes Ride which is attached to the Village Ride route. It has the sub-headings; Newport Pagnell, North Crawley, Boxhedge House, Astwood, Astoodbury, Newton Blossomvile, Clifton Reynes, Filgrave, Tryingham Hall, Gayhurst House and Little Linford. Each sub-heading has a description and how to navigate the next stage of the route.
Linford Lakes Ride “A 6 mile route linking town and countryside which is suitable as a short ride on its own, or as an extension for the other routes. Interesting features between Newport Pagnell and Linford Lakes are described in the two other Rides. Please close all gates on the way.” It has the sub-headings; Linford Lakes and Stantonbury Village.
Willen Ride “A 9 mile route away from main roads with many children’s play areas and special features.” It has the following sub-headings; Willen Lakeside Park, Fox Covert Spinney, Skeats Wharf, Grand Union Canal, Brick Kilns, Giffard Park Play Area, Manor Park, Railway Walk, Toungwell Lake, Willen and North Lake. In the centre of these descriptions is a large map with the Willen Ride Route, the South Lake Extension, the Grand Junction Central Trail and facilitates.
There is also a selection of drawings around each of the routes of buildings, lakes and trees.
