Great Linford Brick Kilns
Great Linford Brick Kilns
“The development of the new city has enabled Milton Keynes to become the most intensively studied archaeological landscape in this county. In the last twenty years the story of the people who have lived and died here during the past 10,000 years has gradually unfolded. This series of leaflets describes some of the many sites that have been discovered and which have now been integrated into developments or incorporated into the parks. This one, about the bricking at Great Linford complements the restored kilns and an information panel on the site itself, at the Dell.”
There are two maps which show where to find the Brick Kilns.
Information is given about the Downbraught Kiln, the two ponds in the park near the kilns, an original photograph c1890, some of the workmen’s names and former brickworks in Milton Keynes.
There are four descriptions, with drawings, of the stages of brickmaking.
