Object No.7
'Praying hands' sculpture, 1990s
After the death of Methodist Church member Fred French this sculpture was donated to the Church in his memory. It was designed and made by Fred who attended classes in wood carving and turning at Great Linford Arts Workshop. Using two different types of timber (the black one is almost certainly African) the two hands appear black and white and the base carries the legend ‘Different cultures pray together’.
Today the sculpture is kept below the Prayer Board where church members put the names of family and friends who they would like to be included in other members’ prayers.
