Knitting Pattern, 1950s

Home dress-making and knitting were very popular after the war especially as the choice of clothes was still fairly limited. The shops in Wolverton were geared up to this market and there were several selling wools, fabrics and haberdashery. This knitting pattern came from D. Strickland, “The Wool Shop” of 45 Church Street . This was not the era of “designer labels” for children – you had what your Nan knitted and like it! However there were probably plenty of train-mad little boys, in Wolverton, who appreciated this design .
