  • The second image in this set of 4 shows a view to the south-east from Northampton.

In the centre of the image is Preston Deanery.

The road leading from the bottom left and across the centre of the image is the B526 Newport Pagnell Rd which leads all the way to what would become the Borough of Milton Keynes.

Hackleton can just be seen in the distance.

Half way up the left-hand side of the image is Great Houghton Lodge.

Towards the top left is Yardley Chase.

If you were to look at this view today, you would see Salcey Forest just off the right-hand side of the frame.

  • The fourth image in this set of 4 shows the spot where the very middle of the new shopping centre would eventually be built.

The triangular clump of trees on the right-hand edge of the image marks the spot currently occupied by the southern end (Door 8) of Crown Walk, a walkway within the Shopping Centre

To see this view today, you would need to be somewhere above Lloyds Court looking towards the south-east.

Just to the left of centre of the field is the site of the present-day Primark.

Secklow Gate, the road which bisects the shopping centre, would been seen going over the roof of the building to the right of Primark.

The top right-hand corner of the field would become the present-day outdoor market.

  • The third image in this set of 4 is showing the view looking south-east across the M1 motorway from somewhere above Stokewood Park. Spinney Lodge can be made out on the far side on the motorway.

The thick hedge which runs from the centre of the right-hand edge of the image down towards the left-hand corner follows the path of Swan’s Way.

If you were to look at this view today, you would see a solar farm in the bottom half of the view.

Hanslope village would be just off the edge of the top of the frame.

  • The first image in this set of 4 is of Woolstone Village. The view is looking north along Newport Road.

The old school can be seen in the foreground with The Barge pub just beyond (painted white) on the corner of Mill Lane.

Mill Lane branches off to the right just past The Barge pub. Linford lane extends in the opposite direction.
