  • The second image in this set of 4 shows Pottersbury Lodge (Rudolph Steiner School).

The photo was taken from somewhere above the A5 Watling Street looking to the north.

The buildings at the back (on the curved road) are next to a pumping windmill.

  • The third image in this set of 4 is looking south-east out above Northampton.

At the bottom right you can see Delapre Farm. Further in the distance is Hardingstone Lodge and Ford Farm beyond.

The settlement in the top left of the image is Rush Mills and the waterway passing by it is the River Nene Navigation.

The body of water on the bottom left is the new Delapre Lake.

Two railway lines cross over towards the left of the image. These are the Northampton & Peterborough Branch (following the edge of Delapre Lake) and the Bedford and Northampton Branch (snaking away towards the middle of the top edge of the image).

If you were to look at this view today, you would see the Northampton Marriot Hotel next to Delapre Farm. Just beyond, the new A45 would stretch from left to right across your view.

On the other side of the new A45 you would see the sprawling Brackmills Industrial Estate.

  • The fourth image in this set of 4 is the construction of Willen Lake. It matches with another image in the archive that has already been identified (https://www.livingarchive.org.uk/content/catalogue_item/the-brian-milne-collection/aerial-views/aerial-view-of-willen-lake-construction).

  • The first image in this set of 4 shows the very beginnings of Springfield roundabout and Marlborough Street (V8) extending south-east. The picture is taken from the south.

If you were to look at this same view today, you would see part of Porthleven place (Fishermead) in the foreground. The Exscape building would be just out of frame to the left and part of Albion Place (Campbell Park) would be visible at the top.

Marlborough Street (V8) would extend beyond the roundabout towards the top left of the image. Childs Way (H6) would run at a slight diagonal from left to right across your view.
