Object No.59
Refreshments Price List, 1895
The ‘Bottom Club’ began life in a house in Church Street before moving to its custom-built premises in Stratford Road/Cambridge Street probably in the early 1890’s as the town of Wolverton expanded out towards Stony Stratford. The houses in Cambridge Street were built from 1893 onwards. This 1895 Price List makes interesting reading today – a pint of Scotch Whisky for just 2s 4d (12p), and selling ales and stout by the gallon – 2s (10p) for a gallon of Guinness!
For more information about the ‘Bottom Club’ see Brian Dunleavy’s Wolverton Past website.
