Object No.100
Jug excavated from one of the Secret Garden villas, Victorian
This jug is pieced together from fragments dug up from the Secret Garden at a series of archaeological digs in 2003. It is a typical piece of its time when attractive everyday items were finally at a price that more people could afford. This was because easy transport links, with the coming of the canals and then railways, made mass produced pottery from the Potteries of Stoke easily and readily available. There is no identifying manufacturer’s or model mark.
