In1800, ladies’ “knickers” had just begun. Before that, ladies did not wear specific underwear- the weight of their petticoats and clothing gave them warmth and absorbed moisture.

Open-leg drawers had two separate legs fitted onto a waistband. This wasso there wasn’ta need to lower garment under heavy Victorian clothing and a person could perform natural bodily functions.
