This teapot was won by Thomas Kightley on Saturday June 15th 1889 at the Wolverton Science & Arts 25th Anniversary and Amateur Athletic Association Club Sports in Wolverton Park.

He was 3rd in the half mile handicap. The newspaper report says the teapot was ‘to the value of 10 shillings’ (50p). Thomas was a member of Wolverton Amateur Athletic Club. Wolverton Park was a well-known regional and national venue for both athletics and cycling.
