Copy of a letter from Albert French to his sister May in 1916.
Albert expects that the next letter May writes will be when he is in France. He is in the pink and hopes she is too. He hopes she had a good time in London and saw some sights. If he comes across Reg in France he will drop her a line to let her know that he is safe. His division started going out the night before and he is off tonight. When May writes it should be to A.E. French, A Coy, CI 7259, 18th batt. K.R.R. B.E.F. France. He says he wants another two pairs of socks in a months time and then talks about the pay arrangements. He hopes May will send him a photo and if he gets a chance he will get one taken in France. He will take the first opportunity to come home on leave when he is there. He talks about Dad not getting her a quarter fare ticket, and then goes on to comment on Flo Grace, Walt Grace, Arthur Morris and Wifee Saunders. Albert will let May know how he gets on in France, but must finish the letter now or the sergeant will accuse him of not helping to strip the barrack room. He sends his love.
