Object No.90
Rocking horse, 1950s
Nobody seems to know where it originally came from but this rocking horse holds fond memories for many women who were young mothers in the 1950s to 1970s. This rocking horse was a feature at the weekly Welfare Clinic that was held at the Scout Hall, where young mothers brought their babies to be weighed and have their injections. It was staffed by trained medical staff who were assisted by local volunteers. Whilst the children played on the rocking horse the clinic offered young mothers a chance for a social time together.
