London Birmingham Railway reduce opposition to the railway (1832-1835).
Notes identifying sources from newspapers and LBR Board minutes relating to the railway’s attempt to reduce landowner’s opposition to the Bill.
Between 1832 -33 the LBR Board continued to press for parliamentary support for the bill and made individual approaches to dissenting landowners.
By 1833 all but a few of the opposing landowners had been mollified. Compensation had been agreed and concessions were offered, for example, the line would terminate at Camden Town, not Euston Square, thereby avoiding Lord Essex’s land (1835).
