Photocopy of an LBR half yearly report on the opening of the line to Tring in October (1836) and the delays caused by severe winter weather. The Engineer’s report reaffirms the conviction that the entire railway will be completed by the autumn. The Directors express reasons for increased capital expenditure. Future arrangements for booking and safely conveying passengers and parcels for the whole distance between London and Birmingham. Refers to negotiations with the firm of Pickford and Co. and the Post-master-general regarding the conveyance of mail. A provisional agreement with the Aylesbury and Tring Railway Company to rent the railway at £2,500. per annum and the establishment of a station at Weedon. Report ends with a satement of accounts.
