Your memories…
Fran: “ David Bowie 1983, Serious Moonlight tour”
Kathy: “The Police & Michael Jackson!Back way back… so far back that I cannot even remember exact years, but probably 79/80/81 ish.”
Antonia: “Michael Jackson; Simple Minds; Guns n Roses; Bon Jovi; Robbie Williams twice ; Take That and got tickets for Pearl Jam this July! Love The Bowl!”
Chrissie: “David Bowie twice, 1983 and sometime in the early 90s.”
Nikki: “Saw ZZ Top early 90’s – had a Saturday job in Sainsbury’s bakery in the day but managed to walk up with friends in evening and got in for nothing! Saw Bon Jovi there in 1990’s, the mighty Metallica in 1993, Ozzfest 2001 and Foo Fighters in 2011. Could sometimes hear concerts in my parents’ garden in Bletchley, if the wind was blowing in the right direction.”
Matt: “‘The Longest Day’ in 1985. I was 16 and travelled on my own from Leeds. One of the most eclectic line ups I have ever seen. U2, REM, The Ramones, Billy Bragg, Spear of Destiny and The Faith Brothers.”
Caz: “I learnt to drive there before it was even the bowl in a go-kart with a motorbike engine and roll cage with pals yelling instructions to me as I bombed round and round in circles… Re gigs, I saw Bowie twice, had to go back the second time to make sure it was THAT good, it was!”
Simon: “Guns n Roses, REM, Oasis, Robbie Williams and a few Classical Spectaculars. The fair they used to do there was awesome too.”
Mary: “Simple minds. Michael Jackson. Thin lizzy. Zz top. David Bowie. Police plus loads more. Used to get in free some times. You could give the security men 3 quid and they’d let you in.”
Mandy: “REM, Simple minds, David Bowie and Robbie Williams plus dozens of others could be heard from my parents back garden.”
Jane: “I remember how crowded the east side of Furzton Lake got every time there was a gig on: crowds of picnic-ers listening to the music for free from the lakeside. I also remember that for some concerts you didn’t need to be just outside to hear them going on. Not sure which concert it would have been in 1990-91 but we heard the bass from Aspley Guise!!
Steve: “Best gig was Foo Fighters, but Monsters of Rock with Deep Purple and Alice Cooper was awesome too, as was Ozzfest and Eminem.”
