The Point

Your memories...

Chrissie: "I remember going to the MK premiere of the third Indiana Jones film with the MK archaeology unit. Also being evacuated through the emergency doors onto the grass where The Point's multistory now is - it turned out to be a poprcorn machine catching fire!"

Liisa: "I remember all MK schools being invited to come and watch the premiere of Fantasia and being given free popcorn and drinks."

Martin: "I met Androulla at the nightclub at The Point, one of the Thursday night rock nights. 20 years and two grown up kids later and I can still remember it like yesterday. Despite it being £1 a pint..."

Nat: "I remember when I was about 10 (26 years ago) going to watch our neighbour's jazz band playing in the big open bar area at the front - it all seemed very posh! Later years many nights were spent in the Oasis bar, particularly long summer evenings on the terrace."

Adam: "Going to see 'Back to the Future' there, weeks after everyone in my class at school had already seen it."

Jane: "I went as a reporter to the world premiere of Inner Space and among the celebs walking the red carpet was the film's star Meg Ryan - who was wondering how she ended up in MK from her stony expression throughout. But we drank fizz and studied all the gorgeous outfits on show and it all felt incredibly glam. Which seems so strange to me now as I look at The Point's jaded paintwork."

Tony: "I painted it when I was built!"

Antonia: "I went to see Santa Claus The Movie which I think was the first film shown. I remember crowds of people and Santa on his sleigh outside!"

Simon: "Me too Antonia. 99p a ticket to twilight showings!"

Nigel: "I worked there as an usher from before it just opened/was being built for the first 18 months it was open."

Nikki: "I went and saw Santa Claus the Movie with my mum and brother... it was so busy that we couldn't all sit together! Really remember the yummy smell of butter popcorn."
