Kate Davidson
Kate started playing football at the age of 5 with local boys using jumpers for goalposts! Kate has memories of watching football on TV and watching Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon. She was known as the girl running around in an Arsenal kit. Kate started playing football for Milton Keynes Ladies in 1991 and played for the reserves side. She had to play in a man’s kit as no ladies kits were available then. The ladies always inherited muddy pitches as the men would play first. Kate remembers Arsenal Ladies coming to Wolverton to play against them, although Kate was too young to play at that time.
Kate had three years playing for her university in the British Universities Championship by which time it was starting to become more acceptable for women to play football. When she graduated from university she moved to the USA and was involved in coaching women’s football there. Kate has seen many changes over the years with the game growing massively. She now plays for MK United.
