Who am I?

Global Education Milton Keynes ran ‘Who am I?’ a project aimed to encourage primary school children to collect oral evidence about the heritage and traditions of members of the school community. Working with five schools, Southwood School in Conniburrow, Greenleys Junior School, Bow Brickhill Church of England Primary School, Oxley Park Primary School and Summerfield School in Bradwell Common, the project ran from January 2010 until December 2011. As part of the project an after school club was set up in each school. The children recorded interviews with their families from their school community to find out about their heritage talking to both locally born families and families who came to Milton Keynes from elsewhere. The children also researched the areas mentioned in the interviews. The children from each school presented the results of their work at special assemblies supported by the work of professional artists and gave presentations of music, poetry, puppetry and a film. They also produced small booklets of the material used in the assemblies.
