Week 35: NOBBY’S LAST RUN
September 5th 1964 saw the closure of the Nobby Newport train line as a result of the Beeching Plan. It had run between Newport Pagnell and Wolverton since 1867.
We are lucky that back in the 60s, 70s and 80s Alan Herring had an 8mm cine camera and recorded significant local events. But the films were originally silent and they need sound to tell the full story for future generations. Who better to ask than the man who shot the films or the people who feature in them?
