The main objectives of this project were to produce a photographic exhibition titled ‘Images of Disability’ by July 1996, to launch this exhibition at MK Disability Arts Festival in July 1996, and to tour the exhibition to 6 venues nationally by December 1998.
Artist and photographer Ross Boyd worked with a group of 14 disabled people from Milton Keynes to create the exhibition, looking at the issue of disability from a wide range of perspectives.
Later, some of the disabled photographers were trained in workshop and group leadership skills and then they carried out a disability awareness programme in local schools in Autumn 1996.
There are a further 167 pictures in the main Living Archive – these 8 photographs are just a sample!
