  Mr. Shiner changed my life. He introduced me to literature, particularly Shakespeare (not that I’ve read much of it since leaving school) but it gave me a love for the written word which has been critical to my further education and work ever since. He also introduced me to public speaking, and this “gift” has been my greatest asset since. Now as a school leader, I appreciate him even more. Thank you Mr. Shiner. Thank you for caring and support a young black boy with whom you must have had next to nothing in common but for whom you opened doors that would shape a career and a life of adventure, travel, and love of learning.
