Peter Kingham He/him
Peter Kingham identifies as a gay man and was born in Milton Keynes in 1972 . He is a long-standing LGBTQ+ advocate in Milton Keynes. In this interview Peter reflects on growing up during Section 28 and the AIDS crisis, describing the isolation and stigma he experienced. He shares his early efforts to connect with others through newspaper ads, his eventual involvement with gay social venues like The Cricketers, and his volunteer work with Gay Youthline and Lesbian and Gay Link, which led to the formation of Q:alliance. As a trustee for over two decades, Peter has played a pivotal role in its development, including securing funding, establishing spaces like Q:space and events like “Celebr8te,” and advocating for youth involvement and representation. He discusses the evolution of LGBTQ+ support in Milton Keynes, the importance of community heritage, and his ongoing commitment to ensuring Q:alliance continues to serve and empower future generations.
