Jennifer Hill She/her
Jennifer Hill identifies as a bisexual woman and was born in 1985 in Bradford. She has been a driving force behind LGBTQ+ community development in Milton Keynes. After moving to the city in the 1990s, her first meaningful engagement with the LGBTQ+ community began at university. Returning at 21, she started volunteering with Q:alliance and Brook, drawn to work that aligned with her values. Jennifer’s early involvement included youth work, event coordination, and HIV testing, based at the now-demolished David Baxter Centre. Her work consistently focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces—especially for those underrepresented in mainstream queer culture. Over the years, she moved from volunteer to youth worker, and later into leadership roles in both Q:alliance and other community-based organisations. As a Community and Diversity Officer with Thames Valley Police, Jennifer worked on hate crime prevention and community engagement, often collaborating with Q:alliance to support LGBTQ+ individuals. These experiences shaped her understanding of what was needed to make Q more responsive, structured, and impactful. In 2023, Jennifer became Q:alliance’s first CEO. Under her leadership, the team has expanded, strategic funding has grown, and the charity has secured a new permanent space in Fenny Stratford, launched in 2025. This marks a milestone for Jennifer—realising a long-held vision for a physical hub where community and staff can come together safely. Her approach has always been creative and community-led. She’s spearheaded arts-based health projects and co-founded “Q Meet,” a social alternative to nightlife that fostered connection and visibility. Jennifer sees the queer future as more inclusive, less bound by rigid labels, and rooted in shared values. She describes her experience in the Milton Keynes LGBTQ+ community as “empowering and special”—a reflection of both her leadership and the vibrant, evolving community she has helped shape.
