Jay Virgo describes himself as a demisexual, pansexual, neurodiverse individual. He was born in Gloucestershire in 1994. He has played a pivotal role in Milton Keynes’ LGBTQ+ community through his work at Q:alliance. After transitioning from retail and leisure work during the COVID-19 lockdown, he joined the Q:alliance to create meaningful change, eventually becoming the Communications and Engagement Manager. Jay expanded adult services from one monthly coffee meetup to multiple weekly events including sports, arts, and support spaces for trans and neurodiverse individuals. He also leads LGBTQ+ training for major organisations and advocates for inclusive, alcohol-free community spaces. Beyond Q:alliance, Jay holds leadership roles in the Milton Keynes Community Foundation and Fringe Festival, championing queer visibility in governance. Passionate about representation, he envisions a future with a central LGBTQ+ hub, increased collaboration, and sustained community growth. Deeply motivated by personal struggles and the lives he’s impacted, Jay calls for greater activism, empathy, and systemic change to empower the queer community.
