Milton Keynes Rose 10th Anniversary
Ten Years after The Milton Keynes Rose opened on 9th November 2013, The Milton Keynes Rose Trust established a Tenth Anniversary Commission. The mission was to capture the story of the Milton Keynes Rose from inception to use of today – it was time to gather the story of how MK’s central commemorative public space came to be.
Gems you will find in the Living Archive (LAMK) include the concept brochure produced by Artist Gordon Young to set out his vision for the Milton Keynes Rose, not many were produced and few remain but here you can flick the pages and see where he drew his inspiration.
Ten Years on, Artist Jakub Rokita was appointed to deliver the Anniversary Commission. Jakub has lovingly captured, collated, created and curated the archive and produced his own brochure, “10 Years On”. None of this would have been possible without the support of The Parks Trust and funding from Milton Keynes Council. The Commission pays many grateful thanks for the generous support of LAMK throughout the Archival Project and to Roger Kitchen for the film “MK Rose the First Ten Years” that brought the story to life. Enjoy the discovery!
This Collection comprises photographs, documents, exhibition materials and videos created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Milton Keynes Rose in 2024. The names of the Groups correspond with the way the various Items were grouped when they were presented to the Living Archive.
