Taryn Field
Taryn Field was born in 1976 born in Plymouth, but grew up in Israel and South Africa, where both of her parents were from. She returned to the UK, moving to Milton Keynes, when she was 19. She lived in a community in Winslow for about 13 years with her husband and children, before she met her wife, while playing roller derby. They moved together to the Lakes Estate, where they co-parented her children with her ex-husband. They now live in the Rainbow Housing Co-Op in New Bradwell, which she describes as ‘the nicest place you can live in Milton Keynes’; ‘a beautiful street and gorgeous people, an oasis in the heart of the city.’ She works for an environmental educational charity called WWOOF, which stands for World Wide Opportunities On Organic Farms; she is also a part-time carer for her Mum.
Before she moved to Milton Keynes she knew it as Milky Beans, from her ex-partner’s family. She is very fond of MK’s green spaces, such as the canal, the river, the lakes and wetlands. She goes running next to the canal and the river, and in the summer months they have picnics in the parks. She likes the fact that hi-tech things are tested or rolled out in Milton Keynes, such as the Starship delivery robots, the public scooters and driverless cars.
Taryn does not tend to attend specifically LGBTQ+ events and venues, although she has been to MK Pride, which she compares with her other experiences of Pride in San Francisco and in Truro.
