Between 4-16 May, Living Archive MK, Pooleyville, MK CDC and MK Council showcase an online programme of talks, screenings, events and activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Homeworld ‘81 – a significant and nationally important housing expo which firmly established Milton Keynes as a leader in innovative, sustainable housing design.
This free online programme explores innovation then and how it relates to Milton Keynes now, as MK aspires to become the UK’s first carbon neutral city by 2050.
It will use this ‘moment in time’ to talk about how, particularly over the past 12 months, we have all looked at how we live and work in our homes and will show how good design can support wellbeing whilst presenting current innovations to address climate change and green energy.
LAMK will be premiering a specially commissioned documentary film we’ve made for this event, combining archives and interviews with those involved with Homeworld 81. The programme culminates with MK’s annual UK New Towns Day where MK, Basildon, Stevenage, Peterborough and others including CLTH and the University of Nottingham present creative delivery in a New Town environment.
