Interview about Bletchley Station, Bletchley Park and life in the town in the 1950s.
Betty Watts recalls her journey to Bletchley and her first impressions of Bletchley Station. She thought Bletchley the ‘dullest place I’d ever been.’ Her memories include the Thursday market, the bad bus services and lack of amusements and she comments on some of the changes to the town. Talking of rail travel, she comments that trains were always late, and that you always got filthy on steam trains. She recalls some incidents while travelling in Yorkshire and comments that trains were not as pleasant to travel in as they are now. She was sad when Beeching closed some of the stations.
