Interview with Lesley Moore (b.1936).
Lesley Moore was born and brought up in Wolverton. She describes her various employment, including Hanslope Park, teaching and then social work with the Milton Keynes Development Corporation. She first heard of Milton Keynes’ development in the early 1970s when she was training as a teacher. She talks of her work as a Newport Pagnell(NP) councillor there in the 1990s, mentioning issues such as the lack of re-generation opportunities for NP. She also discusses the effect of MK’s development on Wolverton, which in her opinion now ‘looks fairly run down’.
At her age she would not want to move from Newport; she mentions MK’s University of the 3rd Age (U3A) which provides her with many activities. She visits the city centre once or twice a week for food shopping and likes the Theatre district and Stantonbury Theatre. She says ‘think I have been very fortunate in my life’, she ‘bores everybody rigid’ talking about MK. ‘I ride my bike most days; I go out on the redways and it is just lovely.’
