  • a bit confusing perhaps because of the title on the photograph, or maybe the original name of the pub in the background way back was indeed the Three Trees. However, this particular area was known as the Trees Crossroads because there were 3(?) elm trees growing on a small patch of land at the centre of the crossroads but the pub was called the Shoulder of Mutton. It was demolished in 1962 but had reopened again as the Shoulder of Mutton in a converted farm house on the opposite corner. The name was eventually changed to the Three Trees.
