Nigel Chappell
Nigel Chappell recounts his memories of living in Bletchley whilst his father worked for the Milton Keynes Development Corporation. His father specialised as a street lighting expert, but as the City grew, he had to diversify and adapt to the demand. As such, he was involved in various design projects ranging from The Point and anti-vandal lighting in the subways, to the design of the new benches.
Nigel has fond memories of growing up in Bletchley. He remembers going to Bletchley Leisure Centre most weekends, BMX’ing on Church Green Road, cycling on the redways and going to Bletchley Cinema. He also shares memories of the Night Life in the Theatre District.
He spent time working as an engineer for Kimball Pianos in Bletchley. He has also worked in different towns and cities and finds that Milton Keynes offers a lot more open space and its easy to navigate around.
Although Nigel has moved away from Milton Keynes, one place in particular he likes to return to is Willen Lake as he feels a connection there to his father – being one of the projects his father worked on.
