Willen Hospice
A short film promoting Willen Hospice formally known as the Hospice of our Lady and St John. It was filmed by John Hemson and narrated by Charlie Ross at Willen Hospice and various locations. The film shows the staff of nurses interacting with their patients whilst the narrator describes the care the Hospice provides and appeals for support.
The beginning of the film shows a blue screen with a crowd of people walking. Images appear in a circle in the centre of nurses making a hospital bed; two nurses looking at medication; and a nurse massaging an elderly woman’s legs. We see the title screen followed by various shots of the Willen Hospice, including shots of the building, grounds, lake, church and facilities. We see the patients and the nurses caring for them. The narrator provides background information on the origin of the hospice.
00:01:38 the day hospice facility is shown and the narrator talks about the purpose of the day hospice and the activities and the support available. Film footage of scrabble, painting and batique and massages is shown.
00:02:08 the scene changes to a nurse visiting a patient at their home whilst the narrator talks about the Hospice based community nursing teams.
00:02:26 a nurse is seen chatting with a patient in a private room about their care.
00:02:32 a map is shown of the area the hospice is responsible for caring for with different towns highlighted as the narrator mentions them.
00:02:45 the narrator talks about the financial and practical support the Hospice receives. The film shows clips from fundraising events such as concerts, dragon boat races and golf days. At 003:09 the camera shows the Willen Hospice charity shop.
00:03:16 whilst the narrator appeals for support and invites people to visit the Hospice we see a nurse is talking to a group of patients; more fundraising activities are shown where a school child is donating money; the reception area and the building from the gardens.
00:03:49 The contact information of the hospice appears on the screen followed by the credits.
