Under The Grid: A Journey Through MK Hip Hop
Living Archive’s MK Hip Hop project celebrates Hip Hop culture in Milton Keynes through collaboration with local organisations and creatives.
In common with other UK towns and cities, Hip Hop culture arrived in Milton Keynes in the early 1980s. It was quickly embraced by a handful of pioneering local individuals who began expressing themselves through the culture’s elements of Emceeing, Deejaying, Graffiti Art and Breaking. There are now several generations of homegrown Hip Hop practitioners in MK, each drawing inspiration from the previous and going on to inspire the next. This groundbreaking vinyl compilation album features a cross section of Milton Keynes Hip Hop music from across the years.
