Sheniah Asiamah
Sheniah Asiamah was born and raised in Milton Keynes, living in Stantonbury until she was 10 when she then moved to Neath Hill. Sheniah grew up with Caribbean influence; her mother is from Jamaica and she was regularly involved in activities held by a predominantly West Indian church. Sheniah attended Stantonbury Secondary school, a school which specialised and facilitated pupils to pursue their passion for the arts. She believes that the school helped her to realise her passion for singing.
Sheniah’s biggest influence in music growing up was her father. She would watch her dad play at venues and run his own events. A few years ago, Sheniah found her appetite for songwriting. Sheniah has recently recorded her own song ‘My City’, and is hoping to make a video of her song. More recently she has enjoyed exploring a wider range of music, through access to different genres on the internet, but also by attending local venues. She is particularly fond of The Crawford Arms, as it hosts many music events. Sheniah also likes to support artists by buying vinyl and cassettes.
Sheniah talks about what makes her proud of Milton Keynes, such as the numerous green spaces and great arts venues. She hopes in the future infrastructure around public transport improves and there are more youth facilities.
