The artist, Jill Kitchen, (who paints under her maiden name Jill Hunt) is the blonde head in the foreground, standing next to her friend Sheila Barby as their two sons, Tom and Steve, run towards them. The other characters in the picture are based on people Jill saw in the playground at the time.
